Observations from the faculty day organised by the Lagos State University College of Medicine (LASUCOM) on 12th September 2018 at the MRC Centre LASUTH, Ikeja, Lagos.
It was an interesting faculty program day themed: MENTAL HEALTH SERVICE IN NIGERIA: CURRENT TRENDS AND FUTURE DIRECTION.
The program began with an opening speech by the Dean, Faculty of Clinical Sciences in the person of Professor Jacob Awobusuyi. This proceeded with the poster presentation and exhibition researchers’ followed by scientific presentation (oral) researchers.
Before the faculty day lecture began, the national anthem was observed by the LASUCOM student choir after which the principal officers and special guests were invited to the high table. Subsequently, the Provost of LASUCOM Professor Antonia Ogbera was called upon to give her welcome address. The chairman of the day, Professor Lanre Fagbohun; Vice Chancellor, LASU, also gave his opening remarks.
After the keynote address by Professor Abiodun Adewuya then the faculty day lecturer Professor Oye Gureje was called upon to deliver the lecture of the day after which the corporate sponsors were highlighted in the program.
In the course of the program, the team from MyMedicalBank was given the podium to pitch their products and services as one of the corporate sponsors of the program. The team introduced what we do and our offerings to the audience at the venue.
After the event, on the strength of the MMB pitch, a large number of attendees approached our stand wanting to know more about MyMedicalBank and MMB HomeCare. By the time the event was over and closed, a large number of the attendees had signed up to provide their services and earn additional income via our platform, MMB HomeCare.
It was an interesting program and we were glad to be part of it. To bring the program to a close, the special guest of honour, Dr Idiat Oluranti Adebule; Deputy Governor Lagos State, gave her message in person and presented prizes to worthy students and lecturers who have performed excellently in their various fields.
As they gave God all the glory for the successful program, the vote of thanks was delivered by the Chairman, Faculty Day Committee, Professor A. O. Fabamwo.
